Until recently Hal's Little World was a regular feature
of the Salt Spring Island Saturday market. Artist Hal
Stone presented an array of miniature works in porcelain
to the market visitors. Each of Hal Stone's porcelain miniatures
is
sculpted in clay and carefully painted by hand. Often
several sequenced firings of glazes are needed . Most
notable at the market were his scale models of steam
locomotives and early aircraft. Scots pipers, penguins and
ducks completed the table.
These days, as an active octogenarian, Hal is taking a
slightly softer approach to marketing his artwork. You may
still find him as an occasional day vendor at the market.
A better option however is to CONTACT HAL to set up an
appointment to visit his studio.
Better still, purchase right now
from the selection below.
Hal Stone may not be braving the weather with the other
artists at the Salt Spring Island rain or shine market,
but he's still producing imaginative artwork in innovative
style.
A skilled water colourist, known for vigorous but
broody landscapes of Salt Spring Island, Hal Stone has
recently began to combine his porcelain sculptures and his
painting. His most recent artworks set his miniature
figures into scenes painted on canvas to produce bas
relief style art.
Hal is also exploring
contemporary art marketing methods. Honing his digital
photography skills and preparing to launch his own
website. In the mean time, I'm pleased to include Hal Stone
as a guest artist on vaseguy.com
