NATURAL STONE AQUARIUM SCULPTURES FOR SALE

Completed AQUARIUM SCULPTURES FOR SALE are at the bottom of
the page.
I began using stone to make
aquarium sculptures after
reading that pieces of natural slate are used in breeding Angelfish.
The fish lay eggs onto
the stone. The sculptures are formed by assembling
separate pieces of slate in the aquarium. I cut slots into the stone so that they fit
together. (See example).
It's an idea that works well in an aquarium. It
provides an aquatic environment that is both natural
looking and other world like. The sculptures are
substantial in appearance but in fact displace very little
water. They occupy a very small space on the aquarium
floor and embed nicely into aquarium
gravel.
Best of all the fish seem to enjoy them, perhaps the
overhanging ledges of slate ease that deep seated fear of diving ducks!
I have tested this stone over
several months in aquariums with goldfish and also guppies.
There have been no ill effects. There are also a number of
sites that attest to the fish friendlyness of natural
slate but please do your own research before introducing
it to rare or more sensitive species of fish. The pieces are easily
assembled and taken apart again if you need to clean them.
They can be scalded with hot water if required.
I'm no expert
on keeping fish so my informational hyperlinks are
supplied courtesy of Aqua-fish.net. A comprehensive
